Welcome to the blog for the Hood River Hotel. Why a hotel blog? Two reasons.
One, we sincerely believe that a Hotel is only as good as the people inside. We’ve got great people. The people who work here. And the people who stay here. And because, in some ways, we’re a little old-school, we believe everyone has a story (as opposed, say, to the new-school view that says “everyone has an opinion.”) A blog lets us tell tales about our people, share photos and videos, just stretch our wings a bit more than other social media allow.
Please, share your thoughts. We need to review all comments before they appear on this site, but if you’re not spamming, we’ll allow your comments — evenĀ if they veer to the critical (we certainly hope they don’t, but we wouldn’t be honest if we didn’t welcome all views).
The second reason for a blog is purely utilitarian. We’ve got a web page, and Facebook page, and we Tweet, but if you’ve spent time in those worlds, you know that they have their limits. Great for chit-chat. Great for disseminating links. But not so great for storytelling at optimal length.
Sometimes you just need to write more than 140 (or even 530) characters. Or maybe you want to display a photo at more than postage stamp size. Or maybe you want a video to run big enough so that you can see it.
That’s why we’ve created the Insider. Come on in.
